Join us for a historic moment — the official public debut of the Eric B. Mays Foundations in Councilman Eric B. Mays' hometown of Flint.

Councilman Eric B. Mays was a proud Democrat and fearless union fighter who represented Flint's First Ward on City Council for over a decade until his passing in 2024. Known for his bombastic style and unwavering commitment to his faith, he became a national voice for the poorest and most forgotten communities in Michigan. He was featured in Ebony Magazine for his tireless work as a politician, activist, and advocate, and his influence transcended party lines  earning him an interview with Rickey Smiley, who called him his idol, and a tribute video from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He served as Vice President of the NAACP Michigan State Chapter and was called upon by communities nationwide to help fight for justice. His guiding belief  "The power of the people is greater than the people in power"  defined his life's work and now anchors everything our Foundation does.

This celebration marks the beginning of that work carried forward: honoring his legacy while launching the programs that will serve seniors, youth, families, and communities in need for years to come.
